Not that all neopets are terrible looking, they’re just very cartoonish. Though I do much prefer Subeta’s art because the look of the pets doesn’t feel so detached from reality and they’re easier to connect to imo :)

I feel like everything lately is gravitating towards the “flash cartoon” look and neopets is no exception. While it’s cute, it can get stale and tiring easily…

That’s why it’s refreshing to me to see something like Subeta, which always has unique vibrancy and life in its art. It’s not samey.

Well-said! I also think it’s really cool that Subeta frequently updates its old art to make sure everything is up to standards, not to mention that staff has polls before species revamps and whatnot…

It really gives a quality before quantity sort of impression from Subeta!

IMO Neopets doesn’t have bad art, per se. Some of the backgrounds are incredibly pretty, and the pets are… mostly visually appealing (aside from the weird raised hand/paw thing that a bunch of them have goin’ on…) But even the new wearable stuff can be really inconsistent and just… have things that make no sense — like… a Bori can wear a necklace that goes under its shell somehow.

Oh god yeah, some of the wearables are like… what? Some look awful and some have like colored lineart and they just clash so bad with the pets and it’s really confusing?!?!?
